Creative lights are everywhere, from rooftops to rooftops, in the form of high-rise apartments and offices to small gardens.
In the case of the New South Wales Government-owned CREE plant in New South Welsh, however, it has also helped to make the energy revolution possible.
A solar energy project designed to capture some of the sun’s energy in a way that can then be turned into electricity, the CREE Solar Farm in New Britain has produced an estimated 40 megawatts of electricity during the past four years, according to a report by the National Energy Board.
The plant itself has seen its capacity increased by around 25 per cent since the plant opened in April last year.
New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian said CREE’s solar energy was helping to fuel a new wave of renewable energy.
“This is an important milestone in our national development plan for renewables,” she said.
“It has been a long time coming, but this is the start of a new era.”
CREE, a joint venture between CREE and state-owned Queensland-based company Enel Green, has been in operation since May 2015, and is located in the heart of the city of New Britain, one of the poorest and most remote parts of New South England.
The energy generated from the plant, called Solar Power Station, is used to generate electricity to be used in a number of industries, such as power plants, heat pumps, cooling systems and refrigeration.
The electricity from the solar power station is also used to power an array of photovoltaic panels, which are used in other industries to generate a significant amount of energy.
CREE is the largest of its kind in the world, with over 40,000 megawatts in operation worldwide.
The company operates in Australia and New Zealand, with plans to build the second CREE facility in Australia.
“The first Solar Power plant was in the late 1990s,” CREE Managing Director Mike Wood told Al Jazeera.

“With a solar thermal system you’re basically producing heat from the sun and then converting it to electricity,” Wood explained.
“You don’t have to be in the sun to get the energy.”
The power that CREE generates from the Solar Power Plant comes from the water and heat that the plant produces, but it is then used to heat the electricity produced by the other systems.
The heat is then transferred into the cooling systems to provide cooling.
The cooling systems provide cooling to surrounding buildings.
The Cree Solar Farm is located just south of the town of Newmarket.
A number of new solar thermal plants have been installed in the region over the past decade, and this project is just the latest in a long line of new developments.
“A lot of our customers have been really enthusiastic about the solar thermal technologies, particularly in the warmer parts of the year, so it’s a great opportunity for us to bring this in,” Wood said.
The New Southwales Government is hoping to make this project a model for other projects in the area, which can then benefit from a similar investment in renewable energy in the future.
“They have a lot more renewable energy, and a lot less cost.
It’s good for us as a government to be supporting that,” Berejkian said.
Renewable energy was one of five major energy sectors in New Zealand that saw significant growth in the 2016-17 financial year, according the latest quarterly report from the New Zealand Energy Council (NZEC).
The growth of renewable sources of energy was due to an increased number of solar panels installed and a number more rooftop solar thermal systems being built, as well as the launch of renewable thermal plants in other parts of North Island.
The expansion of the solar energy sector is a welcome development for New Zealanders, as renewable energy was the second-largest source of electricity in New Zeland.
“There’s a lot going on in the energy market in New England and in New Wales,” Wood told ABC Radio New Zealand.
“Solar thermal is a great way to help reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.””
